The board start, also known as water start, is one of the most important moments in kiteboarding. Learn how to master the art of getting up on the kite board. The kiteboarding water start requires time and training, but you’ll rapidly learn how to angle your feet before being pulled by a kite in the wind.

Sea breezes are great for kitesurfing due to their directional nature from sea towards the land (onshore conditions). But what is a sea breeze? When do they occur? Sea breezes occur during hot, summer days because of the unequal heating rates of land and water. During the day, the land surface heats up faster than the water surface.

So how long does it take to learn to kitesurf really? With riding upwind as a goal, it should take you between 15 and 20 hours to learn to kitesurf, including instructor training.  Actual learning time will depend on your learning skills, fitness level, wind and water conditions, the frequency of your sessions, and the quality of your instruction.

It will allow you to recover the board and, in extreme cases, it might save your life, too. Kiteboarding beginners must learn how to body drag themselves back to the beach using the kite if an emergency occurs. In the early rides, it’s easy to lose a board.
