Reedin MasterModel 2026

Price range: £1,779.00 through £2,239.00

The Reedin MasterModel 2026 is the “cheat code” for big air. Born from a collaboration between Damien Girardin and Brainchild’s Ralf Groesel, this 5-strut kite is designed for one thing: getting you as high as possible with as little effort as possible. While most 5-strut kites feel heavy and sluggish, the MasterModel is surprisingly light and playful thanks to its “welded” construction. It has a massive “sweet spot,” meaning even if your timing isn’t perfect, it will still lift you like an elevator. It’s the ultimate choice for riders who want to beat their Woo records and enjoy “floaty” landings, though it might be overkill if you just want to cruise or ride waves.

REEDIN MASTERMODEL 2026: THE LIGHTEST 5-STRUT BIG AIR ROCKET

If you’ve ever felt like you’re working too hard to get height, the MasterModel 2026 was built for you. At our school, we see it as a high-aspect, 5-strut powerhouse specifically tuned for effortless vertical boost and that “second lift” float at the top of your jump. It’s the kite for riders who want to “catch a cold up there” and need a frame that stays rock-solid in 35+ knots.

OUR GENUINE TAKE: WHO IS IT FOR?

We recommend the MasterModel for the ambitious twin-tip rider. If your goal is to send it and you want a kite that won’t deform in the nastiest gusts, this is it. It’s remarkably “plug-and-play” for jumping—just send it, pull the bar, and you’re gone.

The Reality Check: We want to be 100% honest based on our school testing. This is Reedin’s first ever 5-strut kite, and being so new to the market, it’s still the “untested” contender compared to legends like the Rebel or XR. During our sessions, we found a few trade-offs:

  • Light Wind Relaunch: Despite being lightweight for a 5-strut kite, we had difficulty relaunching it in marginal light winds. Its high-aspect, flatter shape means that if it hits the water when the wind is light, it takes a lot more technique to get it back up compared to the SuperModel.
  • The Loop Yank: While it loops predictably, it delivers a powerful, horizontal yank. It’s not a “soft” looper; it’s a performance machine that demands respect when you pull the trigger.
  • Specialist Tool: It’s obviously not for wave riders or foilers. It’s built to be locked-in and lifty, which is the opposite of what you want for carving waves or light-wind foiling.

TECH SPEC (IN PLAIN ENGLISH)

Reedin uses “Brainchild” technology to keep this 5-strut frame from feeling like a brick:

  • PROWELD® Leading Edge: Instead of traditional stitching, the segments are thermally welded. This removes heavy thread and makes the frame stiffer and lighter for better “snap” on takeoff.
  • FlexStrut Lite: The struts are designed to flex slightly, allowing the kite to “twist” and turn faster than old-school, rigid 5-strut designs.
  • 12-Point Fixed Bridle: No pulleys. This gives you a direct, raw feel at the bar—you know exactly where the kite is at all times.

TECHNICAL SUMMARY

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Is the MasterModel harder to fly than the SuperModel?
For basic riding, no. For jumping, it’s actually easier to get height. However, it requires better kite-handling skills if you drop it in light wind.

What bar should I use?
The Reedin DreamStick X is the perfect match. It’s a Low-V bar which this kite is specifically tuned for.

Why choose this over a 3-strut kite?
Stability. If you ride in gusty, high-wind spots, the 5-strut frame keeps the profile perfect, whereas a 3-strut kite might start to pull you out of shape.

NOT SURE IF YOU’RE READY TO MASTER THE AIR?

We’ve put this kite through its paces in various conditions. It’s a beast for height, but it has its quirks. If you want to know if it’s the right step up for your riding style or if you should stick to a 3-strut, reach out! We love talking gear and giving honest advice.
