ELEVEIGHT CS VARY BAR V5: SIMPLE, SAFE, AND BULLETPROOF
At our school, the control bar is the piece of gear that takes the most abuse. It’s constantly under tension, exposed to salt, and handled by everyone. The CS Vary Bar V5 is our top choice because it’s built to survive. Eleveight has followed a “less is more” philosophy here—removing anything that could break or tangle, leaving you with a sleek, intuitive system that just works.

OUR GENUINE TAKE: WHY WE USE IT
The standout feature for us is the Quick-Matic II release system. In an emergency, you want a release that is easy to trigger and even easier to put back together—this one is a “click-in” system, so you don’t have to fiddle with pulling sleeves up. We also love the “Vary” feature; with a simple click, you can change the bar width (Large 47-55cm or Small 42-50cm). This means you can use the same bar for your 7m wave kite and your 12m freeride kite without compromising on turning speed.
The Reality Check: If you are a dedicated freestyle rider who does 50 backrolls in a single session, be aware that this is a manual swivel bar. You’ll need to manually untwist your front lines using the swivel above the chicken loop. If you absolutely hate untwisting lines by hand, you might look at the CS Auto bar, but we actually prefer this V5 model because there are fewer moving parts to jam up with sand.
TECH SPEC (IN PLAIN ENGLISH)
Here is what those fancy terms actually mean for your session:
- Thermo-coated Spectra Lines: These lines are “pre-stretched” in Germany. This means your kite won’t go out of tune (one side getting longer than the other) after a few heavy sessions.
- Dual Cavity TPU Tube: The depower and safety lines are hidden inside a plastic tube. This stops the lines from rubbing against each other, making them last much longer and keeping the bar feeling smooth when you move it up and down.
- Single Front Line Safety: When you hit the release, the kite “flags” on one line. This is the gold standard for safety—it kills 100% of the power immediately.
- Ceramic Ball Bearings: Used in the swivel to ensure it doesn’t rust or seize up in salt water, making it much easier to keep your lines straight.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
Will this bar work with other kite brands?
Yes! Because it uses a “Low-V” split and standard knots/loops, it works perfectly with most brands like Airush, Ozone, Slingshot, and Naish.
What is the difference between the Small and Large bar?
The Large (47-55cm) is usually best for kites 9m and up. The Small (42-50cm) is designed for smaller kites to prevent them from being too “twitchy.”
Does it come with a leash?
Yes, Eleveight includes a high-quality short safety leash with every bar.
