CORE CHOICE 5

FREESTYLE/FREERIDE

Offering an innovative, performance driven but playful twintip with an extremely wide range of use, the Choice 5 is your perfect freestyle-freeride-big air one-board solution.
Delivering an undeniably smooth ride combined with on-demand agility, the Choice 5 is easily accessible with sporty riding characteristics that even beginners and intermediates are guaranteed to make great learning progress on; quickly graduating to grabbed rotations and explosive jumps.

The Choice 5’s excellent grip comes via state-of-the-art multi-channels, while the exciting agility and pop is made possible thanks to the relationship between the new tip shape and integrated quattro channels. Softer landings are due to the strongly contoured underwater hull, effectively breaking the surface tension of the water before pressure is felt in your knees. This easier feel helps you correct messy landings and manage choppy conditions more comfortably.

THE CHOICE 5 IN DETAIL

Thanks to pre-selected Paulownia slats, the Choice 5 is up to 250g lighter than its predecessor. Instead of the previous ABS rails, composite rods made of ABS and a laminate of up to 80-layers are used. This unibody technology, which originates from ski racing, creates a direct connection between the Cartan carbon laminates in the deck and hull in the form of a torsion box.

Give your sessions that extra sporty kick with the new Choice 5!

UNIQUE FLEX AND RIDING PERFORMANCE

Our proprietary 30° biaxial carbon fiber layup optimizes torsion and flex. Our made-to-order 30° biaxial carbon fiber has more flex along the length of the board and less flex between the toe and heel. Cartan carbon’s unique high filament count also requires less resin which saves weight. Enjoy improved pop, softer landings and extreme durability with Cartan.

THE BEST CONNECTION OF DECK AND HULL

High-end racing ski sidewall technology finds its way to twintips. An industry first and more expensive foil, the carbon and thermoset resin process massively improves the connection between the top and bottom Cartan carbon for a true unibody build. We replaced the previous internal ABS edge strip that joins the top and bottom carbon sheets with a new 80 layer, laminated, resin-activated strip that is much harder, stiffer and better bonding. The new edge improves torsional rigidity and also stores and releases more energy than before.

LIGHTER WOOD CORE WITH THE SAME STRENGTH

Powerfully light, marine-grade, laminated wood core. All wood has natural variation in density and volumetric weight. We now select the lowest weight laminations before gluing them together. In doing so, the specially selected, long-grained Paulownia wood is 250g lighter and just as strong as the last generation. It gives our boards dimensional stability, decay resistance and a lightweight yet distinctively powerful character. The Paulownia extends towards the board’s edges and is CNC milled both top and bottom.

A massive double concave center channel and a smaller outer channel follow the length of the board, providing extra depth for the V-Keel and incredible grip. In addition to the center channel, we added Quattro tip channels. Freestylers can load their edges more than ever, while freeriders will enjoy how well the Choice 5 tracks upwind.

STIFFER TIPS FOR MORE RESPONSE AND RESTORING FORCE

The perfect combo between tip flex and stiffness. You’ll notice that we continue the same contours of the bottom tip channel into the top deck, which now resembles a Katana sword. The new contours add tip stiffness to better store and release the energy you generate when loading the edge.
