Harlem Kitesurfing

New at Infinity Sport · Greatstone, Kent

Harlem

The Dutch super-premium big-air brand — now in stock at Infinity Sport, sitting alongside the Eleveight and North kites you already trust. In store, online, and on demo at Greatstone.

Why we took it on

We don’t add brands to the wall lightly

Eleveight has been our workhorse for years — the kites we teach on, ride daily and trust in anything the Channel throws at them. North covers riders who want refined all-round performance. For a long time, that felt like enough.

Then Harlem kept turning up. On Big Air podiums. At the top of the WOO leaderboards. And in the conversations that matter — the ones riders have on the beach after the best session of their year.

Harlem started in 2016 in Haarlem, in the Netherlands, built by kitesurfers who had spent years teaching on, repairing and selling other brands’ kites and decided they could build something lighter and faster. In 2024 they brought in Ralf Groesel — the designer behind two decades of kite innovation at Naish — to lead product design, alongside Aaron Hadlow, five-time freestyle world champion, as pro rider and co-designer. Lorenzo Casati has since ridden Harlem to Big Air world titles.

Harlem isn’t trying to make a kite for everyone. They’re trying to make the lightest, fastest, hardest-boosting kites in the world — and by most accounts, succeeding. That’s why we’re adding them above our existing range, not instead of it.

What you should know before you buy one

We’d rather you buy the right kite than the most expensive one. So here’s the same straight answer you’d get across the counter in the shop — the brilliant and the not-so-brilliant.

Why you’ll love it

  • Absurdly lightThe welded Proweld leading edge and Twin-cross Flylite canopy strip out weight most brands accept as normal. You feel it on the first tack: earlier flying in light wind, faster steering, longer hangtime.
  • Genuine big-air pedigreeThe Peak was designed by Groesel and Hadlow specifically for Big Air competition, and it’s been ridden to world titles. This is not marketing pedigree — it’s podium pedigree.
  • Reviewers rate it tooIndependent testers have called the Thrive “the answer to Aluula” — exotic-material performance from a kite you can actually get repaired.
  • Direct, alive bar feelLess mass in the airframe means the kite responds now, not half a second from now. Loops recover faster. Gusts translate into lift instead of lurch.

What it asks of you

  • !
Light means less armourThat low weight comes from stripping back the reinforcement patches other brands layer on. There’s simply less material protecting the kite — that’s the trade, and Harlem are open about it.
  • !
It needs looking afterLand it, pack it away. An Eleveight can sit rigged on the beach overnight and shrug it off — a Harlem shouldn’t. Leaving it flapping on the shingle between sessions will shorten its life.
  • !
Not the kite to crash-learn onIf you’re still regularly dropping the kite while you learn tricks, progress on your Eleveight and demo a Harlem when your consistency catches up. It’ll still be here.
  • !
Premium price, professional repairsThese aren’t cheap, and the lighter cloth deserves a proper loft repair rather than a DIY patch. Buy it knowing you’ll treat it like the precision kit it is.

Think of it as a carbon race bike, not a beach cruiser. Ridden hard and packed away after every session, it will reward you every single time. Left out overnight, it won’t — and we’ll tell you that before we sell you one.

Ridden here, not just sold here

Our coach rides one when it matters

Jeremiasz Kuczma — British Big Air U16 Champion and BKSA Pro Coach — does most of his riding and coaching right here at Greatstone. When he’s chasing his biggest jumps and his biggest loops, he’s on the Harlem Peak.

He also coaches on Harlem kites. So if you’re curious, you can demo the same kite he sends megaloops on, with him standing next to you on the beach explaining how it behaves at the top of one. Not many shops can offer that.

Try before you buy

Peak, Thrive and Thrive LiteX — all on demo

No spec sheet will tell you whether a kite suits the way you ride. Twenty minutes on the water at Greatstone will. We keep demo kites from the full Harlem range ready to go — the same models, the same sizes you’d actually buy.

1Get in touchMessage or call the shop, or just drop in. Tell us your weight, your board and what you ride now — we’ll suggest the right model and size.
2We rig it with youWe’ll set it up together and talk through what to expect from the lighter airframe before you hit the water.
3Fly it at GreatstoneRide it back-to-back against your own kite in the same wind. That comparison tells you more than any review.

Harlem Peak — reach new heights

The kites

Which Harlem is which

Harlem keep the range deliberately small — three kites, no filler. Here’s the honest one-line version of each.

Harlem Peak kite

Peak

The big-air weapon

The Groesel & Hadlow design that put Harlem on the map. Boost, hangtime and loop recovery beyond anything else on our wall. If Greatstone is nuking and you want to go as high as you ever have — this is the one.

Harlem Thrive kite

Thrive

The everyday all-rounder

Harlem call it the kite for 90% of riders, and after flying it we don’t argue. Most of the Peak’s magic in a shape you can ride every session — freeride, big air, a bit of everything, all of it easier than it should be.

Thrive LiteX

The light-wind specialist

The Thrive on a diet. When everyone else is sitting on the beach watching seagulls hover, the LiteX is flying. The most expensive kite in the range — and on marginal UK days, the one that earns it.

Action photos on this page are of Harlem team riders. We’ll be swapping in shots from Greatstone as soon as the wind and the camera cooperate.
